Porcelain Veneers

At Pristine Dental NYC, we strive to provide our clients with customized, high-quality dental work they deserve. Whether you’re looking for a full smile makeover or a subtle enhancement of your smile’s aesthetics, we can provide you with the dental care you need. Dr. Hong is attentive to details and specializes in creating the perfect smile you can feel comfortable and confident with every time you laugh, speak, and smile.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

A dental veneer is a small, thin shell fabricated with porcelain in the shape of the desired tooth that we place over your teeth. Adding porcelain veneer as thin as ½ mm in thickness can drastically improve your smile and appearance. The veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth, altering the color, size, shape, or length of your smile.

Veneers can:

  • Change the shape and size of your teeth. Teeth will be measured so the veneers will proportionally fit the patient’s facial features and characteristics. The shape and size can be lengthened, shortened, fuller, or customized to your dream smile as we create a perfect balance and harmonized esthetics catered just for you.

  • Change the color of your teeth. Teeth that need subtle improvements or are severely discolored, heavily stained, such as tetracycline staining, or with conditions that did not develop healthy layers of enamel are also great candidates for veneers.

  • Change the positioning of your teeth, making them look more full, rotated, or tilted, and perfectly positioned to the patient’s natural bite so it is comfortable and the tooth’s function is not impaired.

Porcelain Veneers vs. Crowns

Although both veneers and crowns can be fabricated with beautiful and durable porcelain, they each improve and change the aesthetics of your smile in different ways of tooth preparation. Porcelain veneers bond to the front of your teeth, while dental crowns cover your whole tooth. As both deliver natural blending with your adjacent teeth and smile, veneers can offer more conservative preparations to the tooth than crowns.

Porcelain Veneers vs. Composite Veneers

Porcelain ceramic veneers are a great option to resist potential stains and can provide easier maintenance than composite or resin veneers for many patients. Porcelain is not porous like composite and cannot discolor over time; therefore, porcelain veneers will last longer and give the benefit of not having to replace. Porcelain veneers also better mimic the appearance of natural teeth with their light-reflecting properties.

The Veneer Consultation Process

Every patient is different, and every tooth is different. Whether you are looking for one veneer or a full smile makeover, we will be happy to go through the details once we evaluate your teeth and determine you are a veneer candidate. If you are looking for a smile makeover, we offer Smile Previews prior to the start of the makeover journey. The Smile Preview will provide an image for the patient of how the porcelain veneers will look on the teeth and the patient's face. We ensure that the shape and color align with your dream smile during this trial period, giving the patient confidence and comfort in starting the veneer process for a brand-new smile.
