What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is the practice of improving the esthetics and appearance of the teeth, gums and ultimately the smile to enhance the patient's overall facial profile. The aesthetics of your smile, that portrays the color, position, shape, size, alignment of teeth and gums are focused as the most comfortable bite is achieved. A smile shows the third bottom of one’s face and even a minor improvement can impact patient looks.

Enhancing one’s smile can have dramatic effects on your overall appearance, as well as your dental aesthetics. With modern technologies at our disposal, cosmetic dental procedures can range from teeth whitening to a smile makeover with porcelain veneers while ensuring maximum comfortability for the patient.

Cosmetic Dentistry Services

Porcelain Veneers: Porcelain veneers are customized thin, ceramic shells that wrap around the front surface of your tooth to improve the tooth’s aesthetics. Whether looking for a smile makeover or want to change one tooth's appearance, porcelain veneers can alter your tooth's shape, size, and shade. Some patients have heavily stained teeth that cannot be removed from whitening, and veneers may be the right solution for you. Porcelain veneers are stronger than and not porous like composite veneers and are, therefore, much more durable and longer lasting. Learn more.

Invisalign: Invisalign transforms your smile with an advanced clear aligner system, providing a teeth straightening solution without the need for traditional braces. Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic trays that fit over the teeth and gently straighten and shift them to their proper positions. Treatment lengths vary depending on patients' severity of teeth movement and compliance with wearing the aligners that will be switched to the following aligner every few weeks as their bite progresses towards their ideal outcome. Learn more.

Retainers: Retainers are essential to keeping your teeth in place after orthodontic treatment, whether you just received Invisalign or braces. To prevent shifting and keep your smile's new aesthetics must be worn to keep your teeth aligned and stabilized. At Pristine Dental, we can fabricate durable custom retainers and offer the best type of retainer most suitable for your teeth, bite, and needs. Learn more.

Teeth Whitening: Teeth whitening is a great option to improve discolored or stained teeth. Teeth can become discolored from poor dental hygiene, diet, enamel erosion, aging, and more. We offer two types of in-office whitening systems. Learn more.

  • Our exclusive KöR Whitening system gives promisingly effective, long lasting white teeth you’ve always dreamed of in 2-steps.

  • The Classic Whitening is great for patients who seek subtle whitening results in a 1-step approach.

White Spot Removal (Icon treatment): White spots on enamel can be caused by various reasons, such as excess fluoride (fluorosis), loss of vitamins and minerals and having orthodontic brackets attached in early childhood. White spots are small, circular, or linear white patches on the teeth and are very common, with many patients noticing uneven tooth shade for years. Our white spot removal treatment (Icon treatment) at Pristine Dental is a simple and straightforward process that infiltrates resin into the enamel and eliminates uneven white marks on your teeth. Icon treatment does not involve preparation and numbing of the tooth, making it non-invasive, conservative, painless, and effective.

Gum Sculpting (Gingivectomy): Some patients have extra thick or overgrown gum tissue that cover part of their teeth asymmetrically. Gum sculpting or gum contouring, also known as gingivectomy, is the process of reshaping the gumline and improving the appearance of your gums, teeth, and smile. We use laser technology to precisely and effectively achieve the ideal gum shape the patient desires in minutes. The patient is fully anesthetized locally and will not feel any discomfort or pain. It is crucial to practice and continue good oral hygiene to maintain the results from your gum sculpting procedure.

Closing Teeth Gaps (Diastema): Gaps or spaces between two teeth that are not in contact with each other are called diastemas and can be an aesthetic concern to some patients. Closing the gaps can boost a patient's esthetics and self-esteem and provide benefits like reducing gum recession and inflammation by preventing direct food contact with the gums. Spaces (or gaps) between teeth can be closed with composite bondings (fillings), composite veneers, porcelain veneers and crowns or Invisalign. Ask us about a smile trial at your next visit!

Closing “Black Triangles”: Black triangles, also known as gingival embrasures, are gaps or spaces between teeth and gums, creating a black triangular shape. As gums recede towards the roots, the space between the teeth that was once covered becomes exposed, causing a noticeable “black triangle” between your teeth. Black triangles and gum recession can be early signs of gingivitis, periodontitis (bone loss), aggressive tooth brushing, and aging. Closing black triangles are possible, and the recommended treatment may differ depending on the size and location of the spaces. Closing the spaces will prevent food and bacteria from getting caught and improve aesthetics in the front teeth.

Gum Recession: Receding gums can be caused by a number of things, such as poor dental hygiene or aggressive hygiene habits, gingivitis, periodontitis, aging, smoking and hereditary factors. Gum recession occurs when the gum tissue surrounding the teeth wears away towards the underlying bone, allowing the teeth to become more exposed to the oral cavity and cause sensitivity. Bondings and gum grafts can be discussed depending on the severity of gum recession, and it is crucial to examine what may cause your gum recession.
